Lobster Bib

Lobster Bib

Design + Sewing + Embroidery

The first record of a lobster bib dates back to 1240. The origin of the lobster bib dates as far back as 564 BC. The lobster bib of today is campy: it is typically made of flimpsy plastic and depicts a large image of a lobster.

Eating lobster is messy. And we are given bibs – usually reserved for babies – to keep our fine clothing clean. There is quite a debate online about wearing a lobster bib or not. Many are fine with wearing the cheap plastic tie-ons, while others are not, and absolutely refuse to wear them, for fear of being seen as unitelligent.

Since I am vegan, I do not eat lobster. I made a lobster bib as an article of clothing. It features a lobster embroidered on nylon rip-stop fabric with ties. It is designed to be worn as a top.
